At 10:00-11:00 on July 15, President Yi Bing was visited to an online interview organized by Hunan Education Department website, exchanging ideas with netizens on the theme of "establishing modern university system, promoting internal governance and improving talents quality in local universities".

During this interview, he had an in-depth exchange of views with netizens on such topics as relationship between promoting modernization of governance system and promoting congenial development of the school, concrete practice of establishing modern university system and promoting internal governance, and experience formed in the process of promoting modernization of governance system and governance capacity. He pointed out that, as a local undergraduate university or college, school should focus on the dialectical relationship between scale and quality, strengthen education supply side reform, enhance strength of school and improve talents quality constantly. Meanwhile, in the process of promoting its connotative development, school shall make new strides, new achievements, and new progress. Moreover, aiming at providing more human resources and intelligence support for the construction and development of Hunan Chang-Zhu-Tan economic circle, universities or colleges should base themselves on the land of Hunan, strengthen school-enterprise cooperation, integrate industry and education, as well as improve the quality of application-oriented talents training unceasingly.

Yi Bing also pointed out that the foothold of higher education is talent cultivation. HIE has taken many measures to improve talents training quality. Effective achievements have been made in such aspects as strengthening researches and practices of "New Engineering Discipline" construction, actively implementing “Excellence Initiative 2.0”, deepening integration of industry and education, and building "Geely Automobile Electromechanical Industry Institute", "Artificial Intelligence Industry Institute" and "Intelligent and Intelligent Manufacturing Industry Institute". Meanwhile, HIE actively applies for a new batch of first-class majors at provincial level so as to deepen the revolution of class teaching and promote professional certification. At present, six professional accreditation applications have been accepted and two majors have passed professional certification. Second, HIE will continue to deepen the reform of integrated model of industry and education. HIE has signed comprehensive cooperation agreements with seven counties, cities and districts, including Xiangtan Municipal People's Government and Zhuzhou Municipal People's Government, and signed cooperation agreements with more than 300 enterprises, including XISCO, Xiangdian Group, Hunan Geely Auto Parts Co., LTD., and Dongxin Group. HIE also has built 22 provincial engineering technology research centers, provincial key laboratories, 16 provincial experimental practice teaching centers and 22 Shared practice innovation platforms; established the industry-university-research cooperation base with more than 40 enterprises such as Hunan Geely Auto Parts Co., LTD. In 2019, the "High-power Wind Turbine Performance Test Technology", jointly developed by Hunan Institute of Engineering, Xiangtan Traction Electrical Equipment Research Institute and Xiangdian Wind Energy Co., Ltd., has won the second prize of Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award; The "Degradation kinetics and Reactive sites and Mechanisms of organic pollutants by active oxidizing species" , jointly tackled with Shenzhen Environmental Science Research Institute and Hunan Chemical Research Institute Co., LTD., has won the second prize of Hunan Natural Science Award.

Looking into the future, HIE will scientifically plan the construction and development goals of the 14th “Five Year Plan” and implement six strategies including establishing school with good quality, developing disciplines, opening up, strengthening school with talents, rejuvenating school with science and technology, and innovating management, so as to continuously improve the level of running the school and improve the quality of personnel training.

According to Yi, such face-to-face communication with Internet users is an important way for the university to strengthen its communication with the outside world by directly presenting the school's achievements to the public and responding to netizens' concerns.
