From August 26th to 30th, the Finals of the Seventh National College Young Teachers' Teaching Contest, hosted by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and the Ministry of Education, and organized by the China Education, Science, Culture, Health, and Sports Union and the Department of Teacher Affairs of the Ministry of Education, with co-sponsorship from the Shanghai Municipal Education Union and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, were held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Teacher Qiu Luo from our school's College of Computational Science and Electronics won the Second Prize, marking the first award our school has received in a teaching contest organized by the Ministry of Education.
Qiu Luo qualified as one of the five contestants from Hunan Province to advance to the national finals after winning first place in the Science Group of the 2022 Hunan Provincial Classroom Teaching Contest. During the finals, Qiu Luo was assigned to teach "Inverse Matrix" by lot. In the live teaching session, Qiu Luo adhered to the basic principles of "fundamental knowledge, innovative methodology, and critical thinking," presenting a fascinating classroom teaching and winning the Second Prize with a ninth-place finish in the Science Group. After the contest, Qiu Luo expressed that this competition was an extremely valuable learning experience in her life. In future teaching, she will continue to reflect on and improve her teaching methods, place high importance on cultivating students' innovative and practical abilities, and strive to let every student shine uniquely in the classroom.
The National College Young Teachers' Teaching Contest is held every two years and is the highest-level competition in national higher education with the broadest participation, the most comprehensive discipline coverage, and the largest organization scale. This year's finals were divided into five groups: Liberal Arts, Science, Engineering, Medicine, and Ideological and Political Education, with 159 contestants from universities across the country competing on the same stage. In the final, 25 First Prizes and 50 Second Prizes were awarded.
The school and college attached great importance to this award-winning achievement, providing comprehensive support and guarantees for the participating teacher team. During this period, support was also received from the school union. The achievement not only shows school's achievements in teacher ethics and teaching style construction but also demonstrates the school's high-level teaching standards. In recent years, our school has deeply engaged in various teaching competitions, with the school and college attaching great importance and carefully organizing them. Many experts from both inside and outside the province have been invited for online and offline personalized tutoring to significantly enhance teachers' competitive abilities, bringing remarkable outcomes. Since 2022, our school has won 14 First Prizes, 12 Second Prizes, 19 Third Prizes, and 4 Excellent Organization Awards at the provincial level. In the next step, the school will continue to focus on the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, strengthen the construction of teacher ethics and teaching style, hone teachers' basic teaching skills, and fully leverage the demonstrative and leading role of teaching competitions in improving the quality of the teacher workforce to build a high-quality and professional teaching team at our school.
